Mayakoba welcomes you to the inaugural Mayakoba Playa Fest 2017, this summer’s fun-filled event September 15-17 hosted by Andaz Mayakoba located in a beautiful beach setting of turquoise waters and powder white sands with athletic events and gourmet culinary experiences in the newest mayakoba hotel, Andaz Mayakoba.




With astrong interest and love for gastronomy, Braulio has grown as a bartender creating incredible cocktails for the pastseven years in bars and restaurants such as: Barra 57, Aurora, Parker & Lenox, Hanky Panky among others. He has worked as a consultant with many bars and restaurants in order to create new drinks and has developed different kind of projects with the best chefs in Mexico City.
At the moment he works as the brand ambassador of Ancho Reyes, as well as in his personal and innovative project of mixology with coffee and tea, cafexology.


Born in Mexico City, he is considered the best rower from Mexico, participating in two Olympic Games. He started rowing at age 14, and soon realized that his goal was clear: to compete in the Olympic Games, to win races at all costs and to become the best at his sport. Patrick Lolliger is not afraid of hard work, he completes 6-hour workout to prepare his body, paddling between 30 and 40 kms a day, working harder than his competition. He has been a national champion for 12 consecutive years in single, double and quadruple sculls, and has several Mexican records on his resume, along with gold and silver medals at the Central American Games (in Cartagena 2006 and Puerto Rico 2010, respectively). At the Beijing Olympic Games he finished 15th and in London he finished 14th. He is the ambassador of “Wings for life world run” and also known as one of the best stand up paddle athletes in Mexico.

His life motto is: “The bigger the fight, the bigger the reward”.


Born in Mexico City, Omar Donates is synonymous with cocktails.

Presently, Omar is recognized as the “Liquid Chef”.

Omar entered into the world of mixology driven by his culinary creatity. He Experiments with Pre-Hispanic techniques that he implements in the kitchen, focusing on herbalism or ’alternative medicine’ to create a sensorial experience for all five senses in his dishes as well as his cocktails.

Diving into the culinary arts at age 19, Omar traveled to Italy to study at the stile Italiano Culinary School. His studies abroad allowed for him to see Mexican cuisine in a different perspective. While learning about the history of culinary arts in the world, he understood the importance of his heritage and experienced a deeper connections to his Mexican roots.

“Mexican Mixology” is an avant-garde concept that uses culinary bases to connect the world of mixology with that of gastronomy. With his personal touch, Omar is responsible for reviving and giving new life to the flavors, colors, and aromas of our beloved Mexico with the object of supporting local products and generating a genuinely Mexican experience for the consumer palate.

Currently Omar works with Tequila Patrón.


Originally from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Ellen moved to Playa del Carmen, Mexico in 2001. In Playa del Carmen is where she did her first Yoga practice and right away felt that this was her life changing moment.

She embraced the practice and science of Yoga daily and became an E-RYT with the Yoga alliance and has been, and still is, studying with many great teachers. As they say; always the student.

With more than 20 years of experience in gastronomy, his training and discipline allowed him to be part of the ranks of some of the most renowned restaurants in Australia, Europe and New York. Their style of cooking is elegant and contemporary, ofFrench technique, rustic scenes and, depth in flavor.
In mid-September, 2015, Magno Brasserie opens a space of his own, a faithful tattoo of his taste for the cooking process, with ingenuity, adventure and with the best product. The purpose is to always surprise, without complications and much flavor.




Chef Vincent Wallez was born and raised in Bayonne, France, which is famous for its gastronomy, foie gras and charcuterie.  Spirited by his appetite for adventure and a desire to expand his culinary vocabulary, Chef Wallez has traveled the globe developing his signature culinary style.  His skills have been recognized by world-class resorts and restaurants, earning him tenure at multiple five-star establishments, from Russia to the Caribbean.  As the executive chef of Nizuc Resort and Spa in Mexico, Chef Wallez has raised the bar of Cancun’s gourmet scene.  In 2016, he became executive chef of Andaz Mayakoba, and he looks forward to following the Andaz® ethos of providing inspiring, indigenous and unscripted experiences, creating the most authentic and stylish restaurants in Mayakoba.  Chef Wallez seeks a balance between flavors and classic techniques, focusing on fresh ingredients and visionary touches, delivering dining experiences like none other.


Born in the State of Toluca. His cuisine is contemporary and is based on techniques and knowledge acquired over the years. Bladimir takes inspiration from his family’s traditional recipes; the flavors and smells of his childhood combining in a masterful way the native ingredients of the region, resulting in a treat to his palate of authentic Mexican cuisine. After the opening of Andaz Mayakoba in 2016, he decided to knock on doors and join the renowned gastronomic team of the hotel. Its main objective is to position the kitchen of the resort as the best and most recognized in the area.


He is considered a fan of the classic pastry, being the chocolate the protagonist of many of his creations, describing it as the perfect ingredient that reaches the heart and makes the soul happy. His most frequent customers mention his “famous” croissant, which has left a mark on the palate of those who have had the pleasure of tasting it.
Chef Daniel as always looking to expand his knowledge and his taste for adventure, this time appoints to a new challenge, in Andaz Mayakoba, where he manages to fuse the local product and traditional flavors of the area with avant-garde techniques; creating the perfect recipe.


In 2016, joins the culinary team of Andaz Mayakoba as Chef de Cuisine of Casa Amate, the leading restaurant of the resort that offers a unique and special concept. This is a first class experience, as it celebrates Mexican and South American gastronomy. With a mayor in nutrition, his inspiration comes from the discovery and investigation of the original and fresh Latin American cuisine, looking for the rescue of ancient recipes and thus to be able to offer a unique menu to those who visit the cozy spaces that conform the residential concept of the restaurant.


Chef Mateo can be described as a lover of the local culture, so his love for gastronomy goes beyond the kitchen; interested in the breeding of animals, their behavior and nutrition. His cuisine is detailed, dedicated and with a lot of organization but above all its human quality and its nobility being its main qualities. That is why in 2016 joins the culinary team after the arrival in Mexico of Andaz Mayakoba to lead the Restaurant Cocina Milagro. This culinary space presents a concept of local cuisine with the freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on seafood.


With the opening in 2016 of Andaz Mayakoba Resort, he decides to try new courses and he becomes Chef de Cuisine of the OllaTaco and OllaCeviche restaurants. Your youth, creativity and passion will be the perfect ingredients within your kitchen and thus captivate our guests in the beach area. OllaTaco, specializes in Mexican, creative and traditional cuisine with aesthetic and flavor; While OllaCeviche offers sea products prepared in ceviches with flavors and ingredients of the region.

The second stage of the challenge, a fun run across the beach, golf course and culminating along the white sandy beach of Andaz Mayakoba.

Finish the challenge with a Stand Up Paddle race where you can compete with great athletes.

Led by our Stand Up Paddle expert who will share his/her SUP experience and tricks of the trade. Gear up for the 1K and 5K SUP race later on in the day.

Get ready to compete to become the champion of this race. Use the tips and tricks from the experts to win the competition.

Learn more about this fun sport that combines motorized surf and fun. The team at Jet Surf Mexico will show us why this discipline is a good way to exercise while having fun.

Experience this new trendy form of exercise that combines yoga poses, strength and elasticity. Aqua Forza allows you to work out your entire body in a safe and fun way by use of an inflatable board.

Celebrate the winners of the “Mayakoba Challenge” while enjoying a lunch created by Guest Chef Paul Bentley who along with the Andaz Mayakoba culinary team will delight us with a selection of Mexican dishes coupled with margaritas and the best music to enjoy the summer.
